Until you achieve any success promoting your blog, your portfolio having a link to your blog would not affect your perspective too much.
No doubt, Awesome blogs attract visitors and create link love.
In order to gain some name and fame, you need to make efforts in the right direction.
Getting popularity is very easy by Google as it is doing all that you need.
Craving to have some visitors for your blog and posting in multiple groups is not a wise task though.
People are smart enough to mark you as a spam in their own mind.
I would say, less frequent post attract more visitors than a bunch of posts.

I am just keen to tell you that getting name and fame is easy but going over anxious to get it is not a right step.
